Mr. Michael Ray "Mike" ScottMichael Ray Scott, 72, passed away on Wednesday, September 10, 2025 in Jackson, Tennessee, surrounded by his family. Mike was born on September 12, 1952 to James Reuben and Mable Wilkins Scott. He was a retired truck driver. He was also skilled in carpentry, maintenance, and music. He was a talented mandolin and guitar player, but could play many instruments. He also wrote songs. Mike and his father, Reuben, had played in Fiddler’s Contests and often won. Mike had played music with several gospel groups over the years. His mother, Mable, would have to make him put down the mandolin or guitar and get dressed for school when he was a small child. He was a funny storyteller and loved to laugh. Mike’s greatest joy was spending time with his family. He spent the last couple of years getting to do just that. He believed in “God, Family, Country.” He was preceded in death by his parents, Reuben and Mable; a brother, Jimmy Scott, and a granddaughter, Bethany Gwenn Maness. Mike leaves behind two daughters, Tracy Morgan (Lynn) and Jennifer Blackwell (Jimmy Don); a son, Darrell Scott (Mary Beth); several grandchildren and great grandchildren; a brother, Marty Scott (Janice), a sister, Shirley Kelley; sister-in-law, Betty Scott; and a host of nieces and nephews. He will greatly be missed. Visitation will be at Pafford Funeral Home in Scotts Hill on Friday, September 12, 2025 from 2 – 8 PM and on Saturday from 10 AM – time of service at 2 PM in the chapel. Burial will follow in the Trinity Assembly of God Cemetery in Decaturville.
