Opal Boyce Rhea, age 95, of Boaz, passed away peacefully at her residence on Thursday, September 11, 2025. She was born on February 18, 1930, to the late Gordon and Lillie Boyce.
Opal attended Bel Air Church in Boaz and will be remembered as a kindhearted lady who deeply loved her family.
She is survived by her son, Joe (Donna) Smith; stepchildren, Judy Rhea, Denise Rhea-McKenzie, Melissa “Candy” Rhea, and Dot Bailey; grandchildren, Kevin (Terri) Smith, Haley (Patrick) Edwards, Brad Smith, and John (Hannah) Bevel; great-grandchildren, Haley Strickland, Meka Moore, Meagan (Jackson) Hendrix, Katie (Hunter) Ellis, and Christopher Edwards; great-great-grandchildren, Reagan Holcomb, Atlas Opal O’Conner, and Brooks Hendrix; and niece, Kay (Jeff) Keener.
In addition to her parents, Opal was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Rhea, and her siblings, Wallace Boyce, Welcome “Sonny” Boyce, Margie Bunch, Betty Jean Boyce, and Billy Boyce.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, September 15, 2025, in the Chapel of Adams Brown Service Funeral Home, with Bro. Weldon Brooks officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Hill Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Patrick Edwards, Christopher Edwards, Jackson Hendrix, Hunter Ellis, Kevin Smith, Brad Smith, and Dave Jones.
The family will receive friends on Monday, prior to the service, from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
