Limestone County Sheriff’s Office Arrests Suspect in Tanner Shooting

TANNER-On Sunday, August 24, 2025, at approximately 9:00 p.m., Limestone County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the 11000 block of Stewart Rd. in Tanner, Alabama, regarding a reported shooting.
Upon arrival, deputies determined that an altercation had taken place during which a victim sustained a gunshot wound. The suspect, identified as Lakeshia Renee Peoples, age 40, of Madison, Alabama, fled the scene before deputies arrived. The victim was transported by air to a medical facility for treatment. The victim’s condition remains unknown at this time.
Throughout the night, investigators processed the crime scene and developed information that led to a search warrant for a residence in the 13000 block of Arbor Ridge in Madison, Alabama. On the morning of August 25, 2025, at approximately 10:00 a.m., deputies executed the warrant and located Peoples inside the residence. She was taken into custody without incident.
Peoples has been charged with Assault, 1st Degree and was booked into the Limestone County Detention Facility. A judge will set bond at a later time.
“This case is a reminder of the dedication and teamwork within our Sheriff’s Office,” said Sheriff Joshua McLaughlin. “From the deputies who first responded to the scene to the investigators who worked through the night, their coordinated efforts ensured a safe and successful arrest.”
This case remains under investigation by the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office.
