Jamie Loyd Vanhoozer, aged 58, of Athens, passed away on Tuesday, August 19th, 2025, at Huntsville Hospital. Born on November 29th, 1966, in Athens, he was the son of the late Lamar Alexander Vanhoozer and Mary Ellen Thomas Vanhoozer.
Mr. Vanhoozer leaves behind a loving family: his devoted wife, Angie Vanhoozer; his daughter, Megan Blackwell, and her husband, Brian; his son, Cody Vanhoozer; and his cherished grandchildren, Kadance Blackwell, Kolton Blackwell, and Rayna Blackwell. He is also survived by his mother, Mary Vanhoozer; his sister, Greta Vanhoozer; and his brother, Brad Vanhoozer; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lamar “Buddy” Vanhoozer.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation to honor Mr. Vanhoozer on Friday, August 22nd, 2025, from 11:00 am to 1:45 pm at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm, officiated by Kendall Penton and Dwight Rayburn. He will be laid to rest at Gatlin Cemetery.
Jamie was married for 39 years to Angie, the love of his life. His passion for music, particularly bluegrass, was evident in his talents as a bass singer and musician, playing both the guitar and the upright bass. Beyond music, he enjoyed hobbies such as target shooting and a fondness for old cars. He was a loyal University of Alabama football fan. Above all, his family was his greatest blessing, and his children and grandchildren were his pride and joy.
Jamie Loyd Vanhoozer will be dearly missed by all who were fortunate to know him. His memory will live on in the hearts of those he touched with his laughter, love, and kindness.
