Elaine Howard Gauldin, 82, of Mentone, passed away Saturday, August 16, 2025. She was born October 18, 1942 in Russellville, Alabama, to the late Charlie Ben Howard and Ruby Virginia Auten Howard. She was a graduate of Jacksonville State University and later received her master’s degree in counseling from Mississippi State University. She was a guidance counselor in the Huntsville City School System for many years. She was a member of Cloudland Presbyterian Church.
A memorial service is planned for Saturday, August 23rd at 1 p.m. CST at Cloudland Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the church.
She is survived by her sons Tom Gauldin of Birmingham and Tim Gauldin and wife Mandy, of Nashville; brother Raymond Howard; and grandchildren Josie, Eliza, Ben, and Jack.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jack earlier this year and by her brothers Frank Howard and Charles Howard.
Wilson Funeral Home and Crematory of Fort Payne is in charge of arrangements.
