Mr. Fred Francis Hammer, age 98, of Albertville, passed away on August 14, 2025. He was born on April 15, 1927, to the late A.B. Hammer, Sr. and Ruth Hammer.
Fred was the proud owner and operator of Hammers in Boaz for over 60 years, serving the community with dedication and a friendly smile. A lifelong sports enthusiast and devoted Tennessee fan, he enjoyed watching all kinds of sporting events. He also spent many years coaching youth baseball, sharing his knowledge and love for the game. Fred was an avid New York Yankees supporter and rarely missed a chance to cheer them on.
A faithful member of Albertville First Methodist Church, Fred loved reading the Bible, sharing the Gospel, and teaching Sunday school. He was known for his generosity, kind heart, and the way he made everyone he met feel valued and appreciated.
He is survived by his sister, Emily Hammer Hall; and a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of over 48 years, Vera C. Hammer; and his siblings, A.B. Hammer, Jr., Helen Hammer Kern, Walter Earl Hammer, and Robert A. Hammer, Sr.
Funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, August 18, 2025, at Albertville First Methodist Church with Bro. Mark Adams and Bro. Donald Baugh officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 11:00 a.m., at the church.
