Steve Alan Hooie passed on Wednesday, August 13th, while surrounded by his family. He was born on December 8, 1948, to Pasquell O’Neal “P.O.” and Catherine Hooie in Tanner, Alabama. Steve loved and adored his family and friends. He loved his church. He had a larger than life sense of humor and never met a stranger.
He leaves behind his wife, Martha Martin Hooie; son Christopher (Julie) Hooie; daughters Amanda (Greg) Romans and Kristy Bell; grandchildren Stephanie (Chase) Putman, Austin Hooie, Dustin (Emily) Hooie, TJ (Meredith) Bell, Lauren Bell, Meredith Romans, and Jacob Romans; great-grandchildren Ellie and Baby Putman.
Steve was preceded in death by his father Pasquell “P.O.” Hooie; mother Catherine Hooie; and sisters Lorna Standridge and Judy Raney; and brother-in-law William Martin.
Visitation will be Friday 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at New Hope Funeral Home. Services will follow Friday at 1:00 PM with Bro. Mark Hastings officiating. Pallbearers: Austin Hooie, Dustin Hooie, Chase Putman, TJ Bell, Jason Elkins, Ty Elkins. Honorary Pallbearer Jacob Romans
Interment will be in Kennamer Cemetery.
