Gwen Haynie Bullock, 93, of Athens, passed away on Sunday, July 13th, 2025. Mrs. Bullock was born on October 4th, 1931, in Booneville, Mississippi, to Rubel and Emma (Lauderdale) Haynie.
Mrs. Bullock is survived by her daughters, Lynnette Gibbs and Beth Mobley; granddaughter, Elizabeth Bullock; son-in-law, John Cox; granddaughter, Sally Girard (Jody); grandsons, Zachary Gibbs and Samuel Havely; great-granddaughters Elizabeth Gwen Girard and Lydia Girard; and great-grandsons, Jace Gibbs and Zack Gibbs.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Rubel and Emma Haynie; daughter, Deborah Bullock Cole; grandson, David Cole; and husband, Tulon Bullock.
Visitation will be Saturday, from 12:00 – 1:45 p.m., at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home. There will be a private family graveside service.
Mrs. Bullock loved education and was an advocate of her family going to college. In high school, she received the nickname, “Jolly Junior”. She attended college at Mississippi Northeastern College. She was a faithful servant of God and a member of Market Street Church of Christ where she taught Sunday school. She was caring, loving, and would do anything for her kids or grandkids. Her family knew her lovingly as “Mama Gwen”. She also substituted at Athens City Schools for many years.
