Notice for Danny Lamar Wood

Danny Lamar Wood, 76, passed away Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at his home. He was born May 12, 1949, in Fulton to Reggie Lamar and Mittie Burton Byram Wood. He worked most of his life in the furniture manufacturing industry at Crestline and Washington Furniture and also worked at South Logging. In retirement, Danny worked for the Itawamba Career and Technical Center as a groundskeeper/custodian. He was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Fulton. He loved crappie fishing, as he was a local legend, working in his church’s AWANA program, watching college basketball, raising Brittany bird dogs, and bird hunting. Danny enjoyed spending time with his family and attending his grandchildren’s activities.

 

Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 29, at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Fulton with Bro. Jackie Gray and Bro. Tim Holsonback officiating. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery.

 

Survivors include two sons, Jeremy Wood (Shannon) of Mooreville and Thomas Wood (Allison) of Mantachie; six grandchildren, Tyler Wood (Lexus), Clayton Wood (Anna Reed), Haylee Sheffield (Austin), Cassidy Wood (fiancé Christopher McCollum), Brooke Wood, and Carly Wood; seven great-grandchildren, Paris Keith, Easton Wood, Olivia Wood, Piper Sheffield, Braelyn Wood, Isabella Wood, and Dutton Sheffield; his siblings, Dorothy “Dot” Wood and Ricky Wood (Nancy); and a host of nieces and nephews.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters and brothers-in-law, Helen and Charlie Lofton, Peggy and Bob Hayes, and Johnnie and Bill DeVaughn and Gene Hamm.

 

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time Sunday at the funeral home.
