It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Cynthia Jo Key Taylor, who departed this life on Sunday, May 25, 2025, at the Summerford Nursing Home in Falkville. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in her honor on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Shelton Funeral Home, with the family receiving friends from 9:30 AM until the service begins.
Cynthia was born on June 14, 1956, in Michigan to James Carlton Key and Nancy Helen Williams Key. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, whose spirit was as vibrant as her love for life. An avid dog lover, Cynthia found joy and companionship in her furry friends, reflecting her nurturing nature and her ability to connect with all living beings.
She is survived by her two devoted sons, Jeb (Rebecca) Taylor of Decatur and Ed (Anna) Taylor of Athens, who will carry forward her legacy of love and kindness. Cynthia was a proud grandmother to her cherished grandchildren, Skyler, Sabrina, and Ethan Taylor, who brought her immense joy and laughter.
She is also survived by her loving mother, Nancy Helen Williams Key; her sister, Andrea Key; her brothers, John (Jennifer) Key and David (Brenda) Key; and two nephews, Joe and Josh Key, all of whom will forever hold her memory close to their hearts.
Cynthia was preceded in death by her father, Carlton Key, whose love and guidance shaped her life.
As we gather to celebrate Cynthia’s life, let us remember her for her generous spirit, her unwavering love for her family, and her deep compassion for animals. Her legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her.
