Wayne Foster, Sr. lived a life of adventure, family, devotion to the land where he was raised and to independent trucking for 73 years and left this world on May 4, 2025 at North MS Medical Center in Tupelo after a couple years of declining health. Gary Wayne Foster was born October 3, 1951 in Tupelo, MS, to the union of Clarence Presley Foster, Sr. ad Eva Mae Wheeler Foster, both pioneer Lee County families. He was a lifelong resident of Lee County, attended Plantersville Schools through the 9th grade a graduate of Shannon High School in l969. He married Connie Gail Butler on July 4, 2001. Wayne was self-employed as a truck driver and enjoyed seeing 48 states and traveling up the west coast of California. A man who enjoyed the land of his forebears and being a great steward of it, Wayne enjoyed all outdoor activities including fishing, farming, working his cows and the hay patch, and hanging out with his farming buddies. He enjoyed playing trivia and aced it every time. He was a lifelong member of Unity Presbyterian Church as was his parents and their families before.

A service celebrating Wayne’s life will be at 2 PM Thursday, May 8, 2025 at Unity Presbyterian Church, 391 Road 1233, Plantersville, MS. with Rev. Dr. John Armistead officiating. Visitation will be from 12 noon to service time Thursday only at the church. Burial will follow in Unity Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Holland Funeral Directors is honored to be serving their friends and neighbors.

Survivors include his wife, Connie Foster of Plantersville; his children, Gary Wayne Foster, Jr. of Plantersville, John Thomas “Tommy” Foster of Blue Springs, Benjamin Wade Foster of Fulton, and David Newkirk (Debbie) of Dorsey; Christie Hutcheson (Jimmy) of Blue Springs, Terry Newkirk (Amy) of Nettleton- Montana Foster, Brooklyn Foster, Kayden Foster, Raylon Foster, all of the home, and Chris Brown of Fulton; Brothers, Clarence P. Foster, Jr. (Rhonda) of Plantersville and Tim Foster (Karon) of City Point- Plantersville; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and their families. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Eva Mae Fowler and in laws, James and Mary Connors.
