Bettye Jane Adams of Huntsville passed away on May 3, 2025, at the age of 94. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Charles Lucien Adams, Sr.
She is survived by her daughter, Jane Adams McKinney (Raymond) of Boone, NC; sons, Charles L. Adams, Jr. (Frances), John R. Adams (Beth) of Decatur and Thomas B. Adams (Abbe) of Huntsville; grandchildren, Jack Adams (Courtney) of Birmingham, Catherine Grunschel (Jeff) of Decatur, Ben Adams (Christen) of Decatur, John McKinney (Shannon) of Charlotte, NC, Luke Adams (Chelsea) of Athens, Meg Ingram (Kris) of Decatur, Michael Adams (Karen) of Gaithersburg, MD, Jordan Barwick (Keith) of Waynesboro, GA, Sally Neill (Ben) of Decatur, and Jake Adams of Reston, VA; and 23 great-grandchildren.
Bettye Jane was born on November 14, 1930, in Phoebus, VA. She graduated from Heidelberg (Germany) High School and Stephens College in Columbia, MO. After graduation, she worked at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., where she met her future husband. After raising four children, Bettye Jane worked for the Huntsville City School System. Bettye Jane was a longtime member of Trinity United Methodist Church and also the GFWC du Midi Woman’s Club of Huntsville.
A private funeral ceremony will be held at Maple Hill Cemetery in Huntsville with her grandsons serving as pallbearers.
