Jarrette Wilson Yancey Ms. Jarrette Wilson Yancey, age 78, of Union Grove, Alabama, passed away on Sunday afternoon, April 27, 2025 at her residence. Jarrette was born in Morgan County, AL on October 28, 1946. Her parents were Dewey Wilson and Mable Tyler Wilson. Jarrette and husband, Tony L. Yancey (DOD 2017), had been residents of the Union Hill/Morgan City community for many years.

Jarrette was a loving and dedicated wife and took care of her husband, Tony, during his three-year battle with cancer. She was her best self being a grandmother, visiting with family and friends, especially her lifelong girlfriends, Pat and Peggy, on their adventures. She loved going to Tunica and she LOVED the sounds of the ocean and walking on the beach. She enjoyed her kids coming home to visit and making birthday dinners, especially the celebrations. She collected Coca Cola for almost fifty years. Jarrette poured her heart into everything she did, whether it was raising her children, spoiling her grands, or sharing adventures with friends. She will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege to know her.

She leaves behind a loving family including: sons, Tony Douglas Yancey and wife Joey and James Richard Yancey; daughter, Cynthia (Cindy) Gail Johnson and husband, James; grandchildren, Chase Couch, Tristan Couch, Tate Clark, Cooper Yancey, Christy Sloan, Seth Yancey and Brynnley Monday; great grandchildren, Millie Couch, Ace Clark (due in June), Logan Reece and Caleb Reece; sister, Brenda Gail Griffin.

Jarrette is preceded in death by her husband, Tony Yancey, and her parents, Dewey and Mable Wilson.

Funeral service for Jarrette will be 2:00pm Friday, May 2, 2025 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel in Arab. Family, friends and guests will gather for a visitation from 12:00 noon until the service starts at 2:00. Brother Kenneth Smith will officiate. Escorting Jarrette to her final resting place in Union Grove Cemetery in Morgan City will be Carl Lawrence, Joey Lawrence, Joel Wilson, Trevor Borden, Ryan Yancey, Robby Dukeminier and Kody Clark. Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel entrusted with arrangements.

The family would like to acknowledge and express a special “Thank you” to Brenda Griffin, Christy Muphree, Jennifer, Seth, Brynnley, Jenn Kinney and Shepherds Cove Hospice.
