Jimmy James William Edwards “Jimmy” James William Edwards, of the Morgan City community of Lacey’s Spring, Alabama, passed away midday Saturday, March 29, 2025 at Maury Regional Hospital in Columbia, Tennessee. Jimmy was born March 14, 1932, and just recently celebrated his 93rd birthday. Jimmy was one of eight children born in Morgan County, AL to Welmer Elijah Edwards and Winnie Rosa Kidd Edwards. Having been born amid the Great Depression, spending his childhood years throughout WWII and his young adulthood during the Vietnam conflict, experiencing the space race, the technology revolution, and everything in between are all events we read about in history books but he experienced firsthand.

Jimmy was married to Bobbie Faye Yancey Edwards (DOD 12/25/2009) for over 57 years. He spent several years in the Alabama National Guard while working as a repairman for Dunlap Tires. He attended both New Canaan Baptist Church and Brindlee Mountain Baptist Church. He was a big Auburn fan, loved fishing, cattle farming, gardening, and eating.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, Wilmer and Winnie Edwards; wife, Bobbie Faye Yancey Edwards; one grandson, six sisters and one brother.

He is survived by his daughter, Dianne Edwards and son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Beverly Edwards; seven grandchildren, twenty-six great grandchildren and seventeen great great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends and guests at a visitation from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm at Brindlee Mountain Chapel in Morgan City on Wednesday, April 2, 2025. The burial will be in the Union Grove Cemetery in Morgan County.
