Leila Reed, 81 of Huntsville, AL passed away March 3, 2025, after a short illness, with family by her side. She was born in Pavo, GA to Hubert and Mildred Sutton. She was retired from NASA.
Leila is survived by her daughter, Laura Reed Abernathy (Jerald); and son Dan Reed (Mary); grandchildren, Brigitte Reed, James Abernathy and Bryson Abernathy; sisters, Julie Weaver and Kay Vinson (Joe); and sister-in-law, Diana Sutton. Leila was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Tommy Reed; parents; brother, Danny Sutton; and sister, Thelma Allen.
The family thanks Larri Hancock for her care and dedication to Leila over the last seven years.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday March 8, 2025, at Laughlin Service Funeral Home in Huntsville. A graveside service will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery.
