SHEFFIELD-Agents with the Colbert County Drug Task Force made a drug trafficking arrest Friday evening at approximately 9:30 p.m. The suspect, Ricky Leon Allen, 47 who had been under investigation for several months, was taken into custody following a traffic stop at the intersection of Milner and State Street in Sheffield.

A Florence K-9 unit assisted in the search, and the dog alerted officers to the presence of narcotics in the truck Allen was driving.

During the search, agents discovered two black magnetic boxes hidden in the vehicle. One was found under the hood containing $51,000 in cash, while the second was located in the truck console, containing over 200 grams—approximately seven ounces—of methamphetamine.
Allen was transported to the Colbert County Jail, where he is currently being held on a $250,000 bond.
The arrest is part of the task force’s ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking in the region. Authorities encourage anyone with information on illegal drug activity to report it to law enforcement.
Director Burns thanked the Colbert County Sheriff’s Department and Florence Police for their assistance in this operation.
