Phillis Lee Johnson, age 66, of Russellville, was reunited with the love of her life on Monday, February 10, 2025. She had suffered a lot of pain in the last few years but now she is healed and is pain free.
Phillis was always a caretaker of her family, had worked hard all her life, and retired from being a service coordinator at Franklin Homes. In younger days, she loved to can and preserve food. She now loved to read, loved her flowers and enjoyed her garden boxes. Phillis had a vibrant personality which drew everyone to her, and she loved to have fun. She was outspoken, never pulling any punches when she needed to correct any of us. Phillis was a great wife who never got over losing the love of her life, a wonderful mom, and a devoted grandmother. She loved her family fiercely, both those who are blood related and those of the heart. We will cherish the many wonderful memories of our mom, grandmother, sister, and friend.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her children, John Johnson, Laura Johnson Lowery (Corey), Dionna Johnson Tate (Chris); grandchildren, Mia Gann, Makayla Gann, Madelynn Tate, Kanauriea Whitson, Hannah Tate Tapp (Thorne), Gabby Mahaffey (Troy), Alexandria Tate Graves (Jacob); great-grandchildren, Walker Baker, soon to arrive, Wendell Lane Myrick; sisters, Mattie Wright, Jenny Stoddard (Tim), Daisy King; nieces & nephews, John Crotts, Dale Wright, Shannon Wright, Adam Crotts; and a host of great nieces & nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Freddie Lane Johnson; infant daughter, Elizabeth Lynn Frost; father, Gilbert Phillip King; and mother, Sarah Nell Cook.
The visitation will 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 14, 2025, at Spry Memorial Chapel. The funeral will be in the chapel at 2:00 p.m. with Bro. Rod Stansky officiating the service. The burial will be at Phil Campbell City Cemetery.
The pallbearers will be Corey Lowery, Chris Tate, Dustin Jones, Dalton King, Jonathan Crotts, and Adam Crotts. Walker Baker will be an honorary pallbearer.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to our neighbors, deputy coroner Jeff Clark, and Officer John Cantrell for your kindness shown to our family in our time of need. The family appreciates John for becoming her caretaker over the last few years and taking such good care of her.
