Mr. Von Formby, age 71, of Albertville, Alabama, passed away peacefully on January 25, 2025. Born on December 12, 1953, he was the beloved son of the late J.W. and LaRue Formby. Von was a devoted member of Fairview Methodist Church of Hustleville and an esteemed member of Geraldine Masonic Lodge #838.
He dedicated over 35 years of service to MUB, where his hard work and commitment left a lasting impact. Von cherished his family deeply, always leading with love, strength, and unwavering faith.
He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Mary Beth Formby; his children, Mary Blaine Formby and Dee Gunter Formby (Erica); and his treasured grandchildren, Joe Formby and Sam Formby. He also leaves behind his brother, Jim Formby (Tammy), sister-in-law, Janet Formby, and a host of cherished nieces and nephews.
Von was preceded in death by his son, Blake Formby, and his brother, Bar Formby.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at Adams Brown Service Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Shannon McCauley officiating. The family will receive friends for visitation on Tuesday evening, January 28, from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Pallbearers honoring Von’s life and guiding him to his final resting place at Geraldine Cemetery include Craig Graben, Andy Fricks, Will Formby, Matt Formby, Eldon Chumley, Lance Mullinax, Mike Smith, and Colton Bottomlee. Honorary pallbearers include Jimmy Biddle, Clyde Mosley, and Dan Duckett.
