Dorothy Fern Dickson LeBaron of Starkville, Mississippi died Friday, January 10, 2025 at her home surrounded by family after a battle with kidney disease.

Born in Shreveport, Louisiana on June 18, 1942 to Wayland and Lois Dickson. Dorothy received her bachelor’s degree in Speech from Lamar University.

She was an accomplished French horn player. She received a scholarship to Louisiana University with her talent. She loved music in general. She played handbells and sang in her church choir until her health no longer allowed.

Dorothy is survived by her two daughters. Camala Anne LeBaron Flatt (Joel Flatt) of Birmingham, Alabama and Paige Elizabeth LeBaron Peeples (Heath Peeples) of Starkville, Mississippi. She has four grandchildren; Brian Houston Flatt (Hayley Flatt) of Dothan, Alabama, Shannon Caroline Flatt of Birmingham, Alabama, Charles Hayden Peeples of Starkville, Mississippi, and Mikayla Faith Peeples of Starkville, Mississippi. She is preceded in death by her husband, J. Hugh LeBaron and her parents and siblings.

Visitation will be held at Welch Funeral Home on Thursday, January 16, 2025 from 1-2 pm. A private graveside service will follow immediately at Odd Fellows Cemetery.

In honor of her legacy the family asks that donations be made to Palmer Home for Children.

Although she is no longer with us, her legacy of love and strength will live on.
