Ms. Annie Jo Ashley passed away at Shepherd’s Cove Hospice Thursday, January 9, 2025 at the age of 95. Annie was born April 2, 1929 in Etawah County, Alabama. Her parents were Robert Ross Holloway and Annie Miller Holloway. She was married to Tollie Joe Ashley who passed away in 2007. Annie has been a resident of Arab since 1972 after relocating from Huntsville, AL and was a member of Gilliam Springs Baptist Church. Annie started her life journey at the beginning of the Great Depression. She lived through many historical events that we can only read about in history books. From The Depression, Pearl Harbor, WWII, Vietnam, hippies, the technology explosion, Covid pandemic and everything she experienced in between contributed to make her the remarkable person she was. A lady to acknowledge and enjoy the important things such as home and family.
Annie was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Annie Holloway; husband, Tollie Ashley; son, Robert James Ashley; brothers, Alfred Holloway and Raymond Holloway; and sister, Catherine Kuntz.
Family members cherishing their precious memories of Annie include her son and daughter in law, Craig and Cathy Ashley; grandchildren, Zack Ashley, Will Ashley, Savana Underwood and Jeff Blevins (Holly); several great grandchildren; and brother, Charles Holloway.
The family will receive friends and guests at a visitation from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 18, 2025 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel. The funeral service will immediately follow at 11:00. Brother Max Roden will officiate. Burial will be in Crestwood Cemetery in Gadsden, Alabama. Serving as pallbearers will be Jeff Blevins, Kenneth Green, Neal Shavers, Tommy Holloway, Tim Lamb and Roy Dearman. Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel entrusted with arrangements.
