Emma Higgins
(February 20, 1924 – April 28, 2013)
Charlesa Higgins peacefully left this world Sunday night, April 28, 2013, after 89 years of living life to it’s fullest. She was born in South Pekin, Illinois February 20, 1924 to Marion R. and Margaret Mae (Jones) Cramer. She is now reunited with them, her only brother, Richard W. Cramer, Pekin Illinois, her husband of 23 years, Harold J. Higgins, and her first husband of 24 years, Robert L. Creighton.
She was the proud mother of Debbie Riordan, Decatur, Alabama,
Sue Goetz (Mike), Springfield, Illinois,
and Greg Creighton (Pam), Decatur, Alabama.
The grandchildren she loved so very much are Jeff Wingard (Stephanie), Canal Fulton, Ohio,
Jill Wingard-Grier, Canton, Ohio
Kris Goetz (Jill), Lombard, Illinois,
Griffin Goetz (Gina), Marion, Illinois,
Dan Creighton
and Zac Creighton, both of Decatur, Alabama.
She was blessed with one great-grandson, Mitch Wingard and seven great-granddaughters Chloe Wingard, Brenya Grier, Hailey Goetz, Madison Goetz, Kaitlyn Goetz, Creighton Goetz, and Onna Goetz.
Char Higgins was a woman who knew how to live life to the fullest. She never met a stranger and was a person who you could fall in love with by talking to her for just a few minutes. She touched so many lives and had one of the biggest hearts; a heart that was full of genuine love and joy. She was truly loved in the community and had so many friends who cared for her as much as she cared for them. Our lives are better for knowing and being loved by her.
Graveside service will be Tuesday at 3:00 at Hartselle city cemetery
A casual Celebration of life service will be Wednesday at First Christian Church at 10:00am.
Mickey Johnson and Cameron Douglas will officiate.
Memorials may be made to First Christian Church, Decatur, Alabama where she had been an active and beloved member for 33 years.
