Shirley N. Stephens, (a.k.a.) Sweet Pea, passed away peacefully in her home on April 20, 2024.
She was preceded by her husband of 53 years, Jerriel B. Stephens; father, Jim Noble; mother, Eunice Noble; and brother, Max Noble.
Shirley is survived by her son, Greg (Kara) Cornelius; daughter, Melody Corbin; step-son, Donnie Stephens; grandchildren, Dustin (Charley) Corbin and Michael Corbin; and great-grandchildren, Jordan Walker and Dallas Corbin.
Born in Arab, Alabama, Shirley graduated from Arab High School. She eventually made her way to Huntsville, Alabama, where she met her husband of 53 years, Jerriel B. Stephens. After they married, Shirley left her job at Redstone Arsenal to join Jerriel at The Fish & Puppies restaurant. The following day, his employee who washed dishes quit and Shirley became the dishwasher until another one could be hired. Regardless of the situation, she was always the first one to lend a helping hand. Together, Jerriel and Shirley owned and operated multiple businesses in the Huntsville area. Shirley was well known for operating The Dallas Club & Steven’s Lounge. She enjoyed a long and interesting life. In the past 15 years or so, along with her husband, she became more and more interested in God and her faith. She devoted herself to the teachings of Beit Midrash and knew Jesus as her Lord and Savior. Shirley was a devoted and beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will forever be missed.
The family will be receiving friends on Tuesday, April 23rd, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at Berryhill Funeral Home. A celebration of life will follow at 4:00 p.m. with Rev. Pat Helton officiating.
