Sandra Joyce Landers White, aka NANA, was born October 10, 1942. She spent most of her life in Cherokee, Alabama and was a resident of Florence, Alabama at the time she went to her new home in Glory on December 26, 2023. She retired from Cherokee Elementary School where she worked as the cafeteria manager, or more simply “one of the lunch ladies”. She spent her time at Cherokee serving and loving on kids of no relation, as well as nieces, nephews and her own grandchildren. She dearly loved her family and friends and made sure they knew how much they meant to her. Her prized possessions were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She had a big heart and was consistently pouring into others. To know her was to love her and be loved by her. Unconditional love was freely offered. She will be missed tremendously by all who were lucky enough to be loved by her.
She was preceded in death by her father, Obie Landers; her mothers, Viola Landers and Dessie Willis Landers Malkin; sisters, Linda Ann Tapp and Martha Weaver; and brothers, Eddie Landers and Charles Landers.
She is survived by her fur baby, Bella; brother, Eugene Landers (Renee), brother-in-law, Jimmy Tapp; children, Steve White (Stephanie) and Tami Johnson; grandchildren, Alyssa Johnson, Kelsey Haddock (Hayle), Tessa Atkins (Justin), Kaylee Gibson (Brandi), and Jacob White (Bliss); great-grandchildren, Memphis Haddock, Cooper Atkins, Mavery Atkins, Miya Dixon, Alexis Ogletree, Ember Gibson, Clarke Gibson, Bailey White and Lucas White; and numerous loved nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Saturday, December 30, from 1:30 – 3:00 p.m. at Harris Chapel Baptist Church. A memorial service will follow at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alabama Diabetes Association, diabetes.org/ways-to-contribute.
