Rebecca Hayes, 63, of Leighton, AL passed away on December 19, 2023. A private graveside will be held at a later date.

My heart is so heavy today. I do not mourn for my sister, Rebecca. She is exactly where she was created to be. She is in the arms of her Savior and in his Kingdom. I mourn for those of us who are left behind. She had a love for shopping like no other I’ve ever known. She loved her Lord Jesus Christ. She knew she was going to Heaven. She was ready to see Jesus and all of the family. She praised him in health and sickness. She now praises him in glory. Personally, I will miss her before this life took her breath way. She inspired my career path. And later we worked together. She said Avalon was the best place she had ever worked, and was grateful for her praying Dr. Heinkel. She had the biggest heart and would give you the shirt off her back, so she could buy her a new one. We argued a lot like sisters do, but she knew I had her back and would do the best I could take care of her. She enjoyed her morning and evening talks with Billy McBride. He kept her updated on everything in world news and his family. He always made her laugh, and she loved him and they had a special relationship. She was stubborn just like her father, her way or no way. Well today, she did it her way. She said, “Don’t make me go to the hospital, she said I’m okay. So let me just sleep “and sleep is exactly what she did and woke up in the arms of Jesus. Should we all be so lucky. Now go run the streets of gold sister. You don’t need oxygen anymore; Jesus has made you whole again and you are truly living the dream we al hope to achieve.

She was preceded in death by her JL Hayes and Louise Hayes; sisters, Carolyn Tharp, Denice Hayes, and Linda Hendon; brother, Johnnie Hayes.

She is survived by her lifetime friend, Billy McBride; sisters, Rana Terry (Bennie) Joni Rock, and Patti Moore; niece, Haley Terry; nephews, Cody and Tyler Terry.
