Ruth Taylor Durrett, age 91, of Russellville, passed away on Tuesday, October 31, 2023, at Generations of Red Bay.
Mary Ruth Taylor was born on August 13, 1932, to Eugene & Mattie (DeVaney) Taylor in Rockwood, AL. She married Barney Ervin Durrett in 1958 and they enjoyed 43 wonderful years together. Better known as Ruth, she was an easy-going lady who had a sweet calm demeanor. Due to her husband’s job, Barney and Ruth moved around and lived in several states. Ruth made friends everywhere she went and would stay in contact with those friends by letter writing and “snail mail”. She enjoyed traveling, camping with her family, bird watching, the flowers blooming in her garden, especially her rose bushes, and spending time with her family. She attended church at Mountain Home Presbyterian Church in Belgreen.
She was preceded in death her husband of 43 years, Barney Ervin Durrett; parents, Eugene & Mattie (DeVaney) Taylor; seven brothers; one sister; grandchildren, Aaron Durrett, Michael Titus, Kimberly Layman; and great-grandchild, Ramsey Durrett.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her sons, Barney Ervin Durrett, Jr. (Peggy), David Eugene Durrett (Elizabeth); grandchildren, David Durrett, Jr. (Jane), Jessica Durrett Work (Michael), James Durrett (Leah), Thomas Titus; several great-grandchildren; a host of nieces & nephews; and many friends.
The visitation will be 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 06, 2023, at Spry Memorial Chapel, with the funeral starting in the chapel at 2:00 p.m. Bro. Sammy Taylor will officiate the service. The burial will be at Mt. Home Cemetery in Glasgow Corners.
