Betty Cox Sockwell, 214 Roxie Dr., Florence, AL, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, October 1, at the age of 93.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Lee Douglas Cox; her second husband of 10 years, Basil Sockwell. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Notie Delones Hayes and Taylor Hayes as well as her brothers, Thomas, James and David Hayes.
Surviving are her daughter, Carolyn Lansdell (Rick); granddaughter, Emilee Chappell Stone (Jason); great-grandchildren, Mary-Chappell and Bennett Stone of Atlanta, GA; son, Andre’ Douglas Cox (Cindy); grandchildren, Andrea and Leighann Cox (Caregivers), Ashley Clanton and Jill Mitchell; great-grandchildren, Destiny and Blake Johnson, Ashton Goodloe, Makynlee Cox and Brinlee McLaughlin; special daughter-in-law and caregiver, Patricia Moore Cox; and nieces and nephews.
She was a woman of strong faith in God and depended upon His strength during the trials of life as well as in her everyday walk with Him. She will be honored with a private graveside service for immediate and extended family members on Thursday, October 5, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens with her pastor, Kevin Johnson of First Baptist Church of Florence, officiating.
