Sidney W. Rossuck Jr. of Boaz, Alabama, passed away peacefully at his residence on October 1, 2023. He was 92 years old. Born in China on April 17, 1931, to an American entrepreneur father and Russian immigrant mother, Sid’s journey through life was remarkable. He grew up on Long Island, New York, and later graduated from the University of Vermont with a degree in Engineering. Sid proudly served his country as an Army Captain in Japan and Korea, showcasing his dedication to duty and service. In 1959, he married the love of his life, Lorraine, with whom he shared nearly 64 years of unwavering love and devotion until her passing earlier this year in January. Their love story was an inspiration to all who knew them. Sid is survived by his loving children: Todd (Sue) Rossuck of England, Jennifer Rossuck (Greg Osterhage) of Huntsville, Brett (Tyann) Rossuck of Boaz, and Judd (Vina) Rossuck of Singapore. He was a proud and caring grandfather to five cherished grandchildren: Ellie, Meghan, Ian, Liam, and Ariana. He is also survived by his brother, Richard (Ginny) Rossuck of Albany, New York, with whom he shared a lifelong bond. In 1977, Sid embarked on an exciting professional journey when he was offered the opportunity to open the Far East market for International Flavors and Fragrances (IFF). He moved with his family to Indonesia, then Japan, and finally settled in Hong Kong. Over two decades, he utilized his exceptional business acumen and magnetic personality to expand IFF’s presence in Asia, eventually rising to the esteemed rank of Senior Vice President. However, when Lorraine’s health began to decline due to a second major stroke, Sid returned to the United States. Here, he fulfilled a lifelong dream by founding Sandalwood Farm in Boaz, where he dedicated himself to the operation of a gentleman’s farm and the raising of black Angus cattle. Sidney W. Rossuck Jr. leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and remarkable achievements. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.”
Funeral Service will be 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at McRae Chapel with Eulogy to be given by Todd & Judd Rossuck. Interment to follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
