Barbara Jolene Duboise BakerBarbara Jolene Duboise Baker, age 89, of Phil Campbell, passed away on Tuesday, September 19, 2023, at her residence.

Mrs. Baker was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.  She was a strong advocate for her children’s education, making sure all five of her children attended and graduated from college.  She loved supporting her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren in all their activities and sporting events. Mrs. Baker was a very talented quilter and made many beautiful quilts.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Tilmon David Baker; parents, Green David & Annie Lee (Smith) Duboise; brother, Curtis Bill Duboise; sisters, Vera “Dug” Cook, and Willie Mae Beasley.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Kathy Thomas (Jerry), Mala Thompson (Pete), Sherry Hutcheson (Toby), Tillman Baker Jr. (Diane), Rodney Baker (Christina); grandchildren, Craig Thomas, LeeAnn Moore (Joseph), Daniel Thompson, Tommy Rogers (Sara), Alyssa McKinley (Peter), Elizabeth McClellan, Riley Baker, Luke Baker (Jill), Tilmon Baker, Neyland Baker; great-grandchildren, Peyton Thomas, Katie Thomas, Gage Moore, Sydney Moore, Talon Rogers, Siddalee Rogers; and several nieces & nephews.

The visitation will 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. Thursday, September 21, 2023, at Spry Memorial Chapel with the funeral following at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel.  Bro. Delmar Duboise and Bro. Richard Riley will officiate the service.  Burial will be at East Franklin Cemetery.

The pallbearers will be Neyland Baker, Tilmon Baker, Daniel Thompson, Riley Baker, Luke Baker, Tommy Rogers, Talon Rogers, and Peyton Thomas.  The honorary pallbearer will be Gage Moore.

The family would like to extend sincere thanks to the staff of Shoals Hospice, Hospice nurses, Sharon and Marsha.  Also, a very special thanks to Wendy Lewey and Carolyn Vandiver for your love and care.

Spry Memorial Chapel assisted the family.
