Funeral Services for Mrs. Carolyn Clark, age 87 of Wadley, will be held on Sunday, September 10, 2023 at Mt. Olive Baptist Church (South) at 2:00 P.M. with Bro. Alan Hurst officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery.
Mrs. Clark passed away peacefully on September 6, 2023 at the Compassus Hospice Facility in Birmingham. She was born on January 12, 1936, in Clay County, Alabama to Jewell and Stonewall Caldwell. She was one of four siblings, including her sisters, Margaret and Marilyn, and her brother, Lynn. Carolyn enjoyed going on drives, gardening, caring for her home, and spending time with family and friends. She was a lifelong member of Mount Olive Baptist Church, where she spent many days worshipping and visiting with her church community. She loved gospel music and tuned in to watch singing every Saturday. Her Heavenly homecoming was surely accompanied by the most wonderful music she has ever heard, maybe even a familiar hymn or two there where the roses never fade. Her memory will be forever cherished by her family. She was a cherished mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Tipton (Guy); her son, Jimmy Clark; her grandchildren Clay Tipton (Lenzy), Jami Bangs (Myke), and Cameron Tipton; her great-grandsons Vox Jones, Noah Tipton, and Bear Bangs; and her sister Marilyn Freeman.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Jewell and Stonewall Caldwell; her husband of 50 years, Ned Clark; her son, Ricky Clark; and her siblings, Margaret Jones and Lynn Caldwell. Her surviving family members know that there was a beautiful homecoming in Heaven when Carolyn arrived and reunited with those who preceded her.
Pallbearers will be Clay Tipton, Mike Bangs, Vox Jones, David McGill, Ajay McGill, and Tillman Pugh. Honorary pallbearers will be Noah Tipton and Bear Bangs.
Her visitation will begin at 12:30 p.m. at Mount Olive Baptist Church on Sunday, September 10, with the funeral service to follow at 2 p.m.
