Avery E. Michael, 96, Muscle Shoals, passed away on Monday, August 7, 2023. Visitation will be Friday, August 11, from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The funeral service will immediately follow in the funeral home chapel with Chad Holder and Casey Hagle officiating. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Tuscumbia.
Avery was a member of Parkview Baptist Church, Tuscumbia. He retired with the City of Muscle Shoals in 1989, after twenty-five years of service. He was preceded in death by his wife of seventy-five years, Ida Mae Michael; daughter, Toni Letsinger; parents, George and Sarah Michael; brothers, Hollis, Otis, Buford, Dee, Bert, Marvin, Alton, Wayne, Melvin, and Douglas; and sister, Earline Michael Sarchet.
Avery is survived by his children, Dale Michael (Darlene) and Peggy Cook (Kenneth); grandchildren, Ronnie and Phillip Michael, Trisha Wright, Michael and Jonathan Cook, and Benji and Bryant Letsinger; son-in-law, Phillip Letsinger; and six great-grandchildren.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Col Ronnie Michael, USMC, and LCpl Jacob Michael, USMC, will serve as honorary pallbearers.
