Wendell Marion WarrenWendell Marion Warren, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, of Hazel Green, AL passed away at his home on August 5, 2023.  Wendell was born in Winston County, Alabama and lived in Madison County for most of his life.

Wendell graduated from Huntsville High School in 1956 and went on to attend Auburn University.  He married the love of his life, Donna Kay Taylor, in 1958 and was happily married to her for 65 years.

Wendell worked for the United States Postal Service, and retired as the Postmaster of Harvest, AL in 1994 after 35 years of service.  Wendell did not spend his retirement years relaxing.  His passions were raising and training Arabian horses, and working on his farm.  He and his wife spent many memorable hours working together in the hay field.

When he did find time to relax, you would most likely find him on a golf course or watching his Auburn Tigers play football during the fall.  He loved his family fiercely, and they consider themselves incredibly blessed to have been able to call him theirs.  He will be missed more than words can say.

Wendell was preceded in death by his parents, and his daughter Kelly Denice Warren Hendrix.

He is survived by his beautiful wife of 65 years, Donna Kay Warren, daughter Wendy Babcock (Glenn), granddaughter Blair Babcock Bragg (Dustin), grandson Ben Babcock (Jessie), grandson Nathan Hendrix (Ken), and great-grandchildren Reagan, McKinley, and Nolan Bragg and Carson and Audrey Babcock and sisters Judy Dove and Debbie Zagar, and nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or any charity of your choice.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 10th, from 12:00-2:00PM at Berryhill Funeral Home. The service will follow at 2:00PM, with Rev. Stephen Hampton officiating. Burial will take place at Gatlin Cemetery in Ardmore, AL.
