Graveside service for Derek Austin Turner, 79, of Somerville, will be held Friday, June 30, 2023 at 4:00PM at New Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery. Mr. Turner passed away June 27, 2023 at his residence.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Thalia Bolton Turner, parents, James Austin Turner and Margaret Virginia Berry Turner, and his sister, Jan Turner.
Survivors include daughters, Taleah Alexander of Decatur, AL, Michelle Johnson of Somerville, AL, two sisters, Nell Carr (Morris) of Priceville, AL, Jackie Griffith (Wayne), Hartselle, AL, two grandchildren, Erica Riner (Jeremy), Aleah O’Quinn (Tanner), three great grandchildren, Lawson O’Quinn, Austin Riner, Leah O’Quinn, brother-in-law John Bolton, and niece Ashley Bolton.
He is retired from Wolverine Tube. He was an Ordained Deacon, a member of the Cave Springs Baptist Church and served people all his life. He was a loving father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather, and a friend to all.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Clark, Tony Hale, Yancey Randolph, Allen Gladwell, Jeremy Sherwood, and Patrick Griffith.
