On Saturday, March 25, 2023, Carole Ann Smith of Huntsville, Alabama passed away at the age of 82. Carole was born on August 6, 1940. She was preceded in death by two grandsons, Michael Johnson of Clovis, New Mexico, and Patrick Atchley of Pensacola, Florida; and daughter-in-law, Dianna Smith of Alcalde, New Mexico.
Carole is survived by her husband of 64 years, Richard Smith. Richard and Carole were married on May 9, 1958. They only knew each other three weekends prior to getting married. Survivors also include her two daughters, Adele Atchley-Johnson of Huntsville and Carole Johnson of Portales, New Mexico; sons, Richard “Rick” Smith, Jr. of Alcalde, New Mexico and Kevin Smith (Liz) of Las Cruces, New Mexico; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
Visitation will be from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Saturday, April 1 at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 10 a.m. at Huntsville Memory Gardens on University Drive in Huntsville.
The family requests no flowers.
