Funeral Service for Jody Sue Wilson, 66 of Northport will be Saturday, March 4, 2023 at 11:00AM at First Baptist Church in Hartselle with Bro. Clayton Speed, Louana Sellers, and Stephanie Strickland officiating with burial in the Valhalla Cemetery in Huntsville with Peck Funeral Home directing.  Visitation will be Saturday from 10:00AM-11:00AM at the church.  Mrs. Wilson
was born November 9, 1956 in Illinois to E. A. Clanton and Gladys M. Seeton Clanton.  She passed away Thursday, February 23, 2023 at Hospice of West Alabama in Tuscaloosa, AL.  Jody was preceded in death by her parents and Son, Matthew Wilson.  The word artist superbly captures the essence of Jody Wilson’s life.  Whether it was playing the piano, decorating a home, or painting a landscape, the ability to create beautiful and high-quality artistic creations expressed the deepest expressions of her person.  Jody could make anything beautiful.  Jody attended Samford University to major in piano with the Samford Performing Arts Program, a group of elite musicians recruited to the university.  Jody completed her musical training at Texas Christian
University, where she received her degree in piano performance.  Jody accompanied and supported her husband in the four Baptist churches he served in Texas, Georgia and Alabama.  She served as a church instrumentalist in the music and worship ministries of these churches.  Professionally, Jody was a legal assistant with law firms in each city where her husband’s ministry took the family.  Jody thrived as a legal assistant and brought exceptional worth and value to the firms where she worked.  She brought the same commitment of conscientious excellence to her legal work that she brought to her artistic endeavors.  The last 20 years of Jody’s life found her working to maintain the pursuits of her artistic gifts, while fighting the restrictions of a debilitating
disease, multiple sclerosis.  While the disease restricted her body, it never fully crippled her spirit. Jody had two chief joys in her life.  First, Jody had a vibrant faith in Jesus Christ, and she sought to serve the Lord as best she could despite the multiple sclerosis handicap.  The second joy resided much closer to home. The delight of her life was being Matthew Wilson’s mother.  Pictures line
the walls of her home and fill her albums and scrapbooks of adventures she and Matthew attempted and pursued.
