John Witt “Ricky” Watson, age 70 of Decherd, passed away on Thursday, February 9, 2023, at Southern Tennessee Regional Health Systems. A native of Franklin County, he was born on November 14, 1952 in Huntland to the late Agnes and Katherine (Mears) Watson. Before his retirement, he had been employed as a concrete finisher. Ricky enjoyed fishing, yardwork, and listening to music (especially Travis Tritt) and dancing at the VFW with friends. His friends and family will remember the joy and happiness he spread to others and how he cherished the time spent with his beloved family. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, William, Ray, Ralph, and Glen. Ricky is survived by his loving wife of forty-seven years, Joyce Watson; children, John (Andrea) Watson, and Vanessa (David) Musser; grandchildren, Tiffany Musser, Kelsi Musser, Travis Musser, Ethan Watson, and Evan Watson; great-grandchildren, Jacob Sanders, Lilly Sanders, Raelynn Hill, and Shania Hill; siblings, Nancy Jane Rhodes, Elsie Lee Brewer, Marie Prince, Doll Prince, Roger Watson, Danny Watson, Billy Watson, and Dennis Watson; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 5-8 pm on Saturday, February 11, 2023 at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, February 12, 2023, in the Chapel of Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Mt. Garner Cemetery.
