Ms. Sharon Louise Ellis, 80, died Saturday, January 7, 2023 at North MS Medical Center. She was born in Lee County, Mississippi, January 27, 1942. She was one of seven children born to the union of George Burt Johnson and Ora Mable Gandy Johnson. Sharon earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from the University of MS. She was a school teacher during her earlier years. She was a social butterfly with friends all over the country, and it was said, “to know her was to love her”. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and the American Legion Auxiliary.
A celebration service will be at 2 PM, Thursday, January 12, 2023, in the Sadie Holland Memorial Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors with her brother, James Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Union United Methodist Church Cemetery, Plantersville. Visitation will be from 3 PM – 6 PM, Wednesday and from 12 noon to service time Thursday.
Survivors include Sharon’s children, Jeffery Hicks (Susan) of Nettleton and Belinda Howard of Saltillo; brother, James Johnson (Lynn) of Plantersville; 3 grandchildren, Joseph Howard, Joshua Howard, and Christopher Hicks; 2 great-grandchildren, Lilyanna Howard and Christopher Hicks, II. She was preceded in death by her parents, 5 siblings, 1 niece and son-in-law.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
