Omie Jean Payne, a great soul, departed this life after a brief illness from NMMC-Tupelo on Saturday, December 10, 2022. She was 84. A longtime Plantersville resident, Omie Jean spent her working life as a Mortgage Loan Underwriter at Bancorp South in Tupelo. She was an active member of Plantersville United Methodist Church, the mother of Debora Hernandez (Joel) of Plantersville and Janet Harris (Jerry) of Guntown. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Payne and two sons, Scott Sandifer and Jeff Sandifer.
A service celebrating her life will be held at Noon Friday, December 16, 2022 at The Sadie Holland Memorial Chapel at Holland Funeral Directors-Tupelo with her pastor, Rev. Lynn Fair, Officiating. Private burial will follow in Lee Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 11 AM-service time on Friday only. Memorials may be made to Plantersville UMC, P.O. Box 56, Plantersville, MS 38862.
