LarryLarry Alan Stephenson, 48, of Muscle Shoals, Ala., lost his battle to cancer on Saturday, March 2, 2013. He passed peacefully at his home surrounded by his family. His visitation will be on Monday from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at Colbert Memorial Chapel in Tuscumbia. The funeral will follow at 1 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home. Burial will be at a family cemetery.
His heart was big as him. He was often referred to as the gentle giant.
He worked 20 years in the mental health services before joining the Lauderdale County Department of Human Resources as a social service supervisor.
His lifelong love to help the less fortunate and children was shared by his wife. They fostered many children throughout their marriage.
He loved music and traveling but he found his greatest joy in his children. He was their number one fan and always looked forward to their next adventure. His legacy will live on through his children.
He was a lifelong Christian that served the Lord.
He is survived by his wife, Teresa Hallmark Stephenson of 17 years; his sons, Cody Alan Stephenson and William Levi Stephenson; daughter, Emily; along with their beloved family pet, Lucy; parents, James and Jewel Stephenson, of Lawrenceburg, Tenn.; brothers, Dennis (Denise) Stephenson, of Cary, N.C., and Greg (Carolyn) Stephenson, of Lawrenceburg, Tenn.; in-laws, Bobby and Rebecca Hallmark, Tracie (Alan) West, Greg (Kim) Hallmark, Tammy (Tim) Bradford, all of Russellville, Ala.; a large number of nieces and nephews that loved him dearly.
Pallbearers will include Greg Hallmark, Alan West, Josh Stephenson, Rich Williams, Christian Torres, Robin Williams, Justin Pullum, Richard Bittinger.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the William Porter Foundation.
