Jacquelene Turner “Jackie” Smith, 75, of Decatur passed away Wednesday, February 27, 2013, at Decatur Morgan Hospital. She was born November 28, 1937, in Hillsboro to Robert Lee and Wilma Wade Turner.
Her funeral will be Sunday, March 3, 2013, at 3 p.m. at Parkway Funeral Home with Pastor Eddie Scheler officiating. Burial will be in Moulton Memory Gardens. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
Jacquelene Smith was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She excelled in the field of cosmetology as a practitioner, business owner and as a member of the State of Alabama Board of Cosmetology. She operated Jacquelene’s Cut N Curl and the Alabama Business College of Cosmetology. She had a big Alabama heart that reached out to many people and never met a stranger. She attended St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Jackie was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Donald B. Smith; one granddaughter, Lauren Brown; and her parents.
She is survived by her four daughters, Babette O’Shea of Decatur, Donna Sapp of Hillsboro, Darla Brown of Cary, Ill., and Dawn Sanders of Decatur; one brother, Jimmy Lee Turner; eight grandchildren, Tonya Jackson, Eric Brown, Shawn McManus, Candice, Brandon and Bradley Sanders, Justin Sapp and Bryan Barnett; and two great-grand- children, MacKenzie Jackson and Braydon Taylor Ramey. She was loved by many and will be missed by all.
Pallbearers will be Bryan Barnett, Justin Sapp, Shawn McManus, Bradley Sanders, Brandon Sanders and Dave Hackett.
Honorary pallbearers will be Steve O’Shea, Joel Sapp and Andy Sanders.
Memorials may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church or the charity of your choice .
She was 75 years young and beautiful inside and out.
