Samuel ‘Sammy’ Ryals Jones, 72, entered his eternal life on October 19, 2022, from complications of dementia. He was born in Gadsden, Alabama. He professed his Christian faith as a young child and was a life-long member of East Huntsville Baptist Church. He recently attended First Baptist Madison. Sam was a 1969 Lee High School graduate where he played in the marching band. He attended Auburn University and UAH graduating with a degree in Computer Science. He was employed by Redstone Federal Credit Union as Vice President, Controller and Wyle Laboratories. Upon retirement, he owned a consulting business.
Sam was an avid fan of aviation and once built his own single-engine airplane in his garage. He loved outdoor activities and enjoyed camping and cycling with his wife, Susan.
Sam was preceded in death by his wife, Susan Hightower Jones and his parents, Robert and Doris Jones. He is survived by daughters, Angela Cardone (Toby) and Christy Fiorello (Chris); stepson, Eric Key (Paedia Mixon); brother, Timothy Jones; sister, Martha Stanford (Cal); grandchildren, Cade and Liam Cardone, Aiden and Riley Fiorello, and Henry Key; in-laws, Penny and Jim McLean, and Scott Hightower; and many special cousins, nieces and nephews.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date. The family would like to express our sincerest appreciation to Regency Memory Care, Regency Rehabilitation Facility, and Family Care Hospice for the care and compassion shown to our loved one and family.
