Howard Harris “Hank” Gates, 90, of Ardmore, Tennessee passed away Tuesday, October 18, 2022, at Athens Limestone Hospital, Athens, Alabama.
“Hank” was born to Herschel Gates and Delia White Gates on Sunday, July 17, 1932, in Elkmont, Alabama.
“Hank” has lived here all his life and was a member of Ardmore Methodist Church. He was a member of the Lion’s Club, Freemasons, and Ardmore Veterans. He also was an Alderman and an Ardmore High School Photographer as well as a movie producer for Army training films.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Geralda Gates; daughter, Tambra “Tami” Graviet; brothers, Allen Gates, Carl Gates, Mack Gates, Gerald Gates and Byron Gates, and sisters, Lorene Adams, Lucille Hargrove, and Iris McAnear.
He is survived by his son, Kelvin (Teresa) Gates; grandchildren, Stephanie, Lindsey, Jena, Meghan, and Emily; and 10 great grandchildren.
Visitation and Funeral Services will be Sunday, October 23, 2022 at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home, Visitation being from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM followed by the Chapel Service at 3:00 PM with Debbie Eubanks officiating. The burial will be at Gatlin Cemetery, Ardmore, Alabama.
Pallbearers will be Daniel Roth, Luke Bobbitt, Bishop Lancaster, Ray Maddox, Steve Adams and Tim McAnear. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bill King, Ray Hodges, Forrest Bates and Harold Holt.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Ardmore United Methodist Church.
