Murray Wayne “Sonny” Johnson of Ardmore, Alabama passed away Tuesday, October 18, 2022 at Huntsville Hospital, Huntsville, Alabama.
“Sonny” was born Friday, May 12, 1944 in Ardmore, Alabama to Herbert “Pug” Johnson and Rebecca Magnusson Johnson.
Sonny has lived here all of his life and was a member of Ardmore United Methodist Church. He enjoyed spending time with his granddaughters, golfing, Auburn football and Vanderbilt football.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Stanley Johnson and Stanford Johnson; and sisters, JoAnn Camp, Doris Daly, Lynn Wales, and Dora Johnson.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon Johnson; daughter, Suzanne (Todd) Segars; grandchildren, Grace and Claire Segars; several nieces and nephews along with a host of friends.
Visitation will be Friday, October 21, 2022 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home, Ardmore, Alabama. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, October 22, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Ardmore United Methodist Church with Ms. Debbie Eubanks and Blake Dorning officiating. Burial will follow in Hasting Cemetery, Ardmore, Alabama.
Pallbearers will be Tim Camp, Jason Wales, Brett Hurst, Stanley Smith, Clayton Emerson, and Roger Hodges.
