Gilbert Douglas “Chunk” Hobbs, 79, of Ardmore, Alabama passed away Wednesday, September 28, 2022 in Huntsville, Alabama. “Chunk” was born Wednesday, July 21, 1943 in Limestone County, Alabama to Carl and Clara Willard Hobbs.
“Chunk” has lived here all of his life and was of the Baptist faith. He loved to cook Bar-B-Que and Stews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Carl Hobbs, Jr, Charlie Hobbs, and Howard Hobbs; and sisters, Rosa Crawford and Juanita Anderton.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Slayton Hobbs of Ardmore, AL; son, Johnnie W. Hobbs of Huntsville, AL; and granddaughter, Victoria Hobbs.
Visitation will be Friday, September 30, 2022 at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. The Funeral Service will be Saturday, October 1, 2022 at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home at 1:00 PM with Bro. Alan Hughes and Bro. Rick Shannon and Bro. David Posey officiating. The burial will follow at Gatlin Cemetery, Ardmore, Alabama.
Pallbearers will be Donnie Martin, Steve Pepper, Bobby Whitt, Kevin Haley, Al Robinson and Frank Robinson. Honorary Pallbearer will be Walker Whitt.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hospice Family Care Facilities in Huntsville, Alabama.
