Billy Wayne Light, 82 of Arab passed away Sunday, August 21, 2022, at his residence. Billy was born October 13, 1939, in Arab the son of James Walter Light and Mattie Mooney Light. He was a brick mason by trade, with his boys following in his footsteps. His wife, Vera Nell Oden Light, passed at a young age leaving him to raise the kids alone. He was a member of Ruth Baptist Church.
He is survived by his children: Rhonda Bennett (Barry), Michael Light (Jamie) and Jamey Light (LeAnn), eight grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren, a brother: Dillard Light, host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his wife: Vera Nell Light, daughter: Karen Ryan, sisters: Lucille Hyatt and Estelle Walton, brothers: Calvin Light and Warren Light.
Funeral Service will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 24, 2022, at Gober Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in Mt. Oak/Ruth Cemetery. Visitation will be 12:00 noon until service time at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Gober Funeral Chapel.
Pallbearers: Jason Golden, Robert Suttles, Craig Howard, Mike Franklin, Charlie Griffin, Ronnie Marsh and Jon Saylor.
