Sue Humphries Tate, 75, died Sunday, August 21, 2022 at her residence. She was born in Red Bay, AL and was assistant manager at Piggly Wiggly in Red Bay for many years and a housewife. She was a member of Red Bay Free Will Baptist Church. Sue was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and a friend to all who knew her.
Services will be Tuesday, August 23, 1 p.m. at Red Bay Free Will Baptist Church with Bro. David Corum and Bro. Steve Lindsay officiating. Burial will be in Ebenezer Cemetery, Vina, AL. Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, AL will be in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by her husband of fifty-eight years – Jimmy Tate; two children – Liz Jones (Mike) and Pam Miller (Wesley); two grandchildren – Kelly Walters (Tucker) and Abbey Ivester (David); one sister – Ola Mae Glover (Oscar); several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and a sister-in-law – Ursula Humphries.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ellis and Viola Humphries, a brother, Nolan Humphries and two sisters, Joyce Edwards (Wayne) and Ruth Humphries.
Pallbearers will be Tucker Walters, David Ivester, Carl Fowler, Paul Huffman, Greg Edwards and Phil Edwards. Honorary pallbearers will be Marlin Saint, Wade Barksdale, Robert Newell, Bobby Forsythe, Hugh Ivy, Lewis Hughuley, James Carpenter and Jay Tate.
Visitation will be Tuesday, August 23, 11-1 p.m. at Red Bay Free Will Baptist Church.
