Hillard “Ray” Nolen, 84, of Trinity, Alabama passed away Sunday, July 3, 2022 at Decatur Morgan Hospital Decatur, AL. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Thursday, July 07, 2022 at Lawrence Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 12:00 PM on Thursday, July 7, 2022 at Lawrence Funeral Home with Wayne Dotson and Jamie Latham officiating. Burial will be at Midway Memorial Gardens in Moulton, AL.
Born on January 8, 1938 to Albert and Lula Martin Nolen, Ray enjoyed listening to blue grass music and watching his westerns. Mr. Nolen also enjoyed taking care of his cats as if they were his children. Ray also considered himself a chef making sure his grandson was always well fed.
Survivors include his daughter, Dorothy Gillespie (Stanley) of Hillsboro; four grandchildren, Stacey Gillespie, Kelly Gillespie, Dustin Nolen, Jason Nolen (Allison); eight great-grandchildren, Eryn Gillespie, Bryant Gillespie, Kynlee Gillespie, Destinee Nolen, Zek Nolen, Kierstin Nolen, Jaxon Nolen, Maddie Nolen; two sisters, Eleanor Borden, Marie Jackson; one brother, Leonard Nolen ; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Hillard is preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Lula Nolen; wife, Ruth Nolen; son, Willard Nolen; two brothers, Theo Nolen, and Leo Nolen;and one sister, Letha Shields.
Pallbearers will be Stacey Gillespie, Dustin Nolen, Jason Nolen, Bryant Gillespie, Cory Cameron.
