Funeral Services for Mattie M. Kennedy, age 77 of Cragford, will be held on Sunday, July 3, 2022 at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland at 3:00 P.M. with Bro. Claude Bennett, Bro. James Davis, and Bro. David Davis, officiating. Burial will follow at the Liberty Hill Methodist Church Cemetery.
Ms. Kennedy passed away on Tuesday, June 28, 2022 at her residence. Mattie had worked for several years in textile manufacturing, and with the Clay County Board of Education as part of the lunch room staff at Mellow Valley, Ashland Middle School and at Lineville. She enjoyed her animals, exotic pets, and collectables.
She is survived by her son, Jason Hallman (Jordan Franksain) of Cragford, grandson Jace Alexander Hallman, 4 sisters, Maxine Smith of Ashland, Debra Jean Harris of Talladega, Kathleen Rodriquez of New Orleans, LA., and Sharon Miller (Bruce) of Sylacauga, and 3 brothers, David Davis, James Davis (Jackie), and Glen Davis all of Ashland.
She is preceded in death by her parents, George and Ethel Bell Burkhalter Smith, her husbands, Travis Hallman and Elbert E. “Red” Kennedy, and one brother, Richard Davis.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Her visitation will take place on Sunday, July 3, 2022 at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland from 1:00 – 3:00 P.M. until service time at 3:00 P.M.
