Betty Jean Baker, age 81, departed this life on Tuesday, June 7, 2022, at her home in Decherd, Tenn. Throughout her life, Betty desired to live a life close to God, as evidenced by her nearly perfect Church attendance whenever the doors were open at the White Oak Grove Church of God. Beyond this, Betty lived a life of humble service to those around her, always putting the needs of others before her own. In summary, her life was a life that sought to fulfill the “Two Greatest Commandments’ Matthews 22:36-40 (1) Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind, and (2) Love your neighbor as yourself. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Baker was preceded in death by her brother, Vernon Walls, her husband, Charles Baker, and her daughter, Delana Baker. She is survived by her sons, Chuck Baker and wife Dawn of Estill Springs, Mike Baker of Winchester and daughter-in-law, Beth Chambers of Tullahoma; grandson, Nick Baker and wife Sara of Cleveland, TN; sisters , Wanda Elks of Decherd, Joyce Warner and husband Steve of Shelbyville, TN, Vicky Swickard and husband Billy of Winchester; and brother, William Walls and wife Syble of Decherd. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 10, 2022 from 10:00am until 12:00pm at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held immediately following at 12:00pm in the chapel of the funeral home with Bro. Jonathan Blazer officiating. Interment will be held at Franklin Memorial Gardens.
