Walter Milton Porter of Scottsboro, AL passed away on May,18, 2022 at 11:28 AM at Shepherd’s Cove in Albertville, AL surrounded by loved ones.
Mr. Porter was born on on March, 26,1950 in Lexington, AL. He spent his youth in Cypress INN, TN and was a 1968 graduate of Collinwood, High School.
In 1970 he was drafted into the US Army where he served in combat during the Vietnam War. Receiving an honorable discharge in 1972 along with several medals.
Mr. Porter worked as a Journeyman Electrician for the IBEW, at several Nuclear Facility’s including Bellefonte in Scottsboro, AL. He was later employed by The Chrysler Corporation as a Maintenance Electrician where he eventually retired.
Mr. Porter is preceded in death by his parents Clarence Milton Porter and Clara Odell Pitts, his wife Angela Tillman Porter; Sister Janie Mae Sherrill and a granddaughter Erica McGaha.
He is survived by his brother, Marty Porter; his Children, Chris Porter (Jennifer), Christy Gaddes (Chad), Matthew Porter (Zak); Ben Gentle (Maria), Aubree Potter (Bradley);
Grandchildren: Christian Porter, Donnie Porter, Hannah Porter, Spencer Gaddes, Jacob Gaddes, Devon Griggs, Hunter Potter, Bailey Potter, Luke Potter, Chenoa Gentle, Riley Gentle, William Gentle, Jacob Walls, Logan Walls, Evan Walls, Hannah Walls, future great grandson Teddy Porter and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Friday, May 20, 2022, from 12 – 3 p.m., at Rudder Funeral Home, Scottsboro, Alabama. Funeral Service will follow in the Chapel at 3:00 p.m., with Bro. Jimmy Walker officiating. Interment will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Scottsboro, Alabama.
