Harry Alan James, 73, of Sheffield, AL passed away on Sunday, October 11, 2026.
Visitation will be on Saturday, October 17, 2026 from 11am-12 pm at Colbert Memorial Chapel with a graveside service to follow in Colbert Memorial Gardens.
Harry began working in the family floorcovering business shortly after graduating from high school and devoted many years to the store. After retiring from the retail business, he moved on to floorcovering inspection work. He later partnered with his brother to start an online business, continuing to work until retirement in 2023.
He enjoyed photography and history, and he especially loved college football, always favoring Alabama. He had a special love of nature and the outdoors, with the mountains of Colorado and
Utah’s national parks being among his favorite places.
He was preceded in death by his father, William James and his mother, Della James.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Debra James; sons, Joshua James and Matthew James; brothers, William J. James and Robert F. James.
